I was so happy to see Bunker 599 on the cover of The Architectural Review. Their creators, RAAAF & Atelier de Lyon were awarded with the Architectural Review Award for Emerging Architecture 2013.

The concrete bunker, which has been erected in 1940 as part of Holland’s defences against military invasion, has been split in two in 2010. A long row of stairs leads through the sliced building along to the shore, connecting land, water and monument. Split infinity, as Jonathan Glancey from The Architectural Review titled it.
