Being a fashion designer I was trained to keep an inspiration book. It just got beyond control. Books and boxes full of photocopies, photographs, little objects, fabric samples, magazines, notes, drawings you name it. I thought why not order it this way... as sort of a blog.

Effortless and stunningly beautiful. All you need is a white tank and some relaxed trousers and off you go. Can be menswear too, even better.

Bit like Cinderella, but for grown-ups. That's the nice part of the job of a fashion designer/stylist, you sometimes get access to other's priceless wardrobes. So today I got the chance to have a very close look at the above dress from Rodarte's Autumn/Winter 2013 collection. This incredibly original, long sleeved, fully embroidered gown has a deep V back and is actually very comfortable. Brava!

Currently reading Alek Wek's autobiography and came across this image of her from 1999. So simple, yet fascinating, shot by Gilles Bensimon for Elle USA.

Recently I have been introduced to country music...

Willie Nelson's new album, Band of Brothers is quite a lecture in country music... It comes out June 17 and can be listened to at NPR's First Listen service.

A rare performance by the Kronos Quartet together with the superb dancers of the Nederlands Dans Theater [NDT], at a not so obvious location: Food Center Amsterdam. Seen yesterday and still under the impression. Feast for the eyes and ears.

Loved the black overall/uniform worn both by male and female dancers. Costume design by Joke Visser and Hermien Hollander.

Painted, pre-photoshop era photograph of Grace Jones by Jean Paul Goude in New York, 1978.

Masterpiece, all time favorite fashion image!

Watching the image is even better while listening to her song: Pull Up To The Bumper [© 1981 The Island Def Jam Music Group]... and accompanied by a glass of bubbles...

And what a historic image this is. Andy Warhol introduced Grace Jones and Keith Haring in the mid-eighties.

"For this photograph Jones' body has been painted by the New York graffiti artist, Keith Haring with his characteristic pictograms and decorations. She is also wearing an exotic headdress and a conical wire bra, so that she looks like a voodoo doll or an aboriginal dancer." [caption from Tate.org]

The name Robert originates from the Germanic name Hrodebert meaning "bright fame". Derived from the Germanic elements hrod "fame" and beraht "bright". The Normans introduced this name to Britain, where it replaced the Old English cognate Hreodbeorht. Source from behindthename.com
